Pain Minimization

Our doctors use local gentle and precise techniques making it as comfortable as possible, with many patients experiencing minimal to no discomfort.

Pain Management Injections

  • An epidural steroid injection is a common procedure to help alleviate pain in the back, neck, arms, or legs caused by inflamed spinal nerves. During this procedure, a mixture of a steroid and a local anesthetic is injected into the epidural space, which is the area surrounding the spinal cord. The steroid works by reducing inflammation and the local anesthetic helps numb the pain.

  • A selective nerve root block injection is a minimally invasive procedure designed to identify and help alleviate pain, originating from a specific nerve root in the spine. During this treatment, a physician uses X-ray guidance to carefully direct a needle to the targeted nerve root. A small amount of local anesthetic is then injected to numb the nerve and reduce inflammation. This can both help pinpoint the source of your pain and provide possible relief.

  • A trigger point injection is a simple procedure designed to possibly help relieve pain in specific areas of your muscles. These areas, called "trigger points," are tight knots that form when muscles do not relax and can cause discomfort. During the procedure, a small amount of medication is injected directly into these knots, helping the muscle to relax and alleviate pain. The process is quick, often providing immediate relief, and is performed in a safe and controlled environment. Whether you have persistent muscle pain or specific pain spots, a trigger point injection might be a beneficial treatment option for you.

  • A facet joint injection is a minimally invasive procedure designed to alleviate pain and inflammation in the facet joints of the spine. These joints connect our vertebrae and allow for flexibility and movement in the spine. Sometimes, due to an injury these joints can become painful. During the procedure, a physician uses imaging guidance to precisely deliver medication into the affected joint. This medication usually consists of a local anesthetic and a steroid. The anesthetic provides immediate pain relief, while the steroid reduces inflammation. Many patients may experience significant relief after the injection, making it easier for them to move and engage in daily activities.

  • A therapeutic joint injection is a procedure where a doctor injects medicine directly into your joint, usually to relieve pain and inflammation. Think of it as a targeted treatment, directly addressing the source of discomfort. It's a quick procedure and may provide relief for many patients suffering from joint pain.

  • A Medial Branch Block is a diagnostic procedure aimed at identifying a source of pain. In this procedure, a safe and temporary numbing medication is injected near the small nerves (medial branches) connected to the facet joints of the spine. If you experience pain relief immediately after the injection, it helps confirm that the facet joint(s) being targeted is a source of creating pain. The main goal of this injection is to guide future treatments, potentially leading to longer-lasting pain relief solutions. It's a quick, minimally invasive procedure with minimal discomfort.

  • Radiofrequency Ablation, often referred to as RFA, is a minimally invasive procedure used to reduce pain. By applying heat directly to the nerves that are causing discomfort, through a small needle, RFA helps disrupt the pain signals. This treatment may be recommended for patients with chronic pain, especially in the back or neck.

  • Manipulation Under Anesthesia, often referred to as MUA, is a specialized non-surgical procedure designed to restore range of motion and may alleviate chronic pain. Performed by expert physicians, this technique involves gently manipulating the patient's joints while they are under light anesthesia. This allows the doctor to adjust the joints without the patient's voluntary muscle resistance or apprehension. MUA has proven to be exceptionally beneficial for patients who haven't responded to traditional treatments, offering possible relief from pain and increased mobility in a safe and controlled environment.
